Nokia E71 application suggestions

I got my Nokia E71 last year. I was waiting for it ever since it leaked through the internet here.

Although I was a little emotional when I discovered E71++ is already about to be released ='(. Behold E71++ A.K.A. E72 (sounds very logical eh?). It has features like touch sensitive scroll buttons (but still no touchscreen --which is fine by me), an upgraded camera. It's E71's camera that made me learn the concept of chromatic aberration. It also made me wonder for a while if that was a feature of the phone itself.

It's worth noting again that camera quality is not defined by megapixels. I wanted to do my part (ako mismo!) in educating the rest of the world. By "world", I meant the other part being corporations and consumers as the other.

I was always a fan of QWERTY phones. It started since i had my first PDA (which is obviously not a QWERTY device --but just bear with me), then my second hand Treo 600 and Nokia E61.

What i liked about the QWERTY phones is becuase i can view them as highly portable computers --and indeed it is one. Note that the first general-purpose electronic computer of 1946, the ENIAC was a gargantuan calculator --a highly guarded military secret of it's time.

We'll to much for that. Below are the applications installed in my E71 which i find useful.

This thing just gets the boredom where ever you are. Chess is a highly repeatable game and it also trains the part of your brain that deals with decision making. Remember, your brain works like a muscle and exercising it regularly helps.

To be honest, i have never won a chess game in my life. Yes, I know! Thank you! But point is made, this helps you think. Come on people, it's the 21's century and thinking is not yet obsolete! The world is full of so called non-thinking people! Practice your brain. It won't be long before you see the benefits.

2. Google mobile applications: Maps, YouTube, and Gmail

I can't believe when I saw the news that Google is seen as the potential new Microsoft on the matter of antitrust laws. My point here is that Google gives stuff away for free. (Well, okay not really free as they make money and they're not yet delusional, I know.) Even Microsoft is seeing google as a potential competitor in the Desktop Office productivity applications since Google has launched it's Web browser version of office applications such as word processors and spreadsheet applications.

Now, Google's famous apps and services are now available via your mobile phone, where ever you are! And if you happen to live in the Philippines like me, you can be watching the latest release from the series of Hayden Kho videos! As for me, I'm eagerly awaiting the next upload with Maricar in it. Point is made let's move on to the next shall we?

This is brought to us by Lonely Cat Games --a company that not only sells, well, games, but mobile phone applications in general.

I like this application because the email application bundled with the Nokia E71 is crap. Period. It's usefulness and fitness for use is at best is moot. I mean, come on!

Ever heard of thing called Bluetooth? Yes, it's a means for wireless connectivity.

Your phone has a camera and your laptop computer has Bluetooth. You can then have a wireless webcam that you can carry around within several meters away from your laptop.

And oh, it's free.
